Saxe Gotha Industrial Park could soon feature a new Delaware-based company. County of Lexington

A Delaware-based company that creates adhesive products is planning to invest $70 million and create more than 100 new jobs in Lexington County.

AllTape Adhesive Manufacturing Inc. has its sights set on an 18-acre parcel in the Saxe Gotha Industrial Park, a 700-acre plot of land along Interstate 26 that already houses some of the county’s top employers like Amazon, Dominion Energy and Nephron Pharmaceuticals. The adhesive company is aiming to set up operations and to hire 130 employees if the county approves its request for tax incentives.

Lexington County Council will take a second vote on the incentives package, which includes tax savings for the company for at least two decades, at a Tuesday meeting. If it passes through, the council would have to take one more vote before the project is cleared to move forward.

The company would become at least the third notable planned manufacturing investment in Lexington County within the last three months – Cardiff Products, a Canadian beverage manufacturer, is set to bring 94 jobs with a $99.6 million investment to the same industrial park. The county is in the early stages of a $159 million investment from Michelin, an international tire company, to expand its existing facilities.

Manufacturing is the county’s third largest industry, behind retail and healthcare, according to the county’s economic development department. Over the last decade, the county’s civilian labor force has increased by around 11%.

This is a developing story.
