The S.C. Peanut Party in Pelion, which kicks off Friday night, is honoring some newcomers this year.

The theme is “peanuts, popcorn and baseball,” a nod to the Blowfish collegiate summer league team that now calls Lexington County home.

Blowfish Baseball team members and owner Bill Shanahan are this year’s parade grand marshals. The team will ride on a float and be on the grounds afterward. And Blowie, the mascot, will be there for photos and to sign baseballs.

Pelion’s famous peanuts are the other star of the festival, which runs through 10:30 p.m. Saturday and is expected to attract 15,000 people.
