Cops seek suspect in Midlands fatal hit-and-run crash that killed bicyclist
Authorities are still seeking a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed a Midlands bicyclist.
The SC Highway Patrol said in an April 11 social media post that it is seeking information about the fatal hit-and-run that happened shortly after 3 a.m. on April 3 on U.S. 321, south of the town of North in Orangeburg County.
Carey Carr, 46, of Neeses, was riding a bicycle that morning when she was struck and killed.
A vehicle hit the cyclist in the roadway and left the scene, the Highway Patrol said in the Friday post on the social media platform X.
The Highway Patrol said the suspect was driving a 2016-2025 burgundy Chevrolet Malibu sedan. The vehicle would likely have damage to its front passenger side, troopers said, as well as it passenger side mirror.
Following the April 3 crash, the Malibu is thought to have continued south on U.S. 321 toward Neeses.
