A new Whataburger restaurant is set to debut in SC. Check out when it opens
A popular Texas-based fast food chain is continuing its rapid growth in South Carolina.
Whataburger, which has locations across the U.S., is set to open a new restaurant at 9:30 a.m. May 1 at 5648 Calhoun Memorial Highway in Easley, according to a spokesperson for the company. That’s in a busy commercial area about two miles east of downtown Easley.
The first two guests in line for the dining room and the first two guests in line for the drive-thru on May 1 will each receive “free Whataburger for a year,” according to the company. The first 100 guests will get a free honey butter chicken biscuit, and the next 100 guests after that will get “special Whataburger swag,” the company noted. And from 5 to 7 p.m. May 1, there will be a party in the parking lot of the new Easley store, with a DJ, some Whataburger prizes and a 360° photo booth.
Maria Gomez will be the operating partner of the new Easley Whataburger, and the restaurant will employ 85 people. The company said the Easley location will have a double drive-thru, a spacious dining room, digital menu boards and an interior mural featuring “South Carolina iconography with Easley splashed across the wall.”
Whataburger has grown steadily in South Carolina in the last year. The company opened its first location in the state in July 2024, in Boiling Springs. The Easley store will be the company’s 11th location in the Palmetto State.
There are currently four Whataburger locations in the Midlands — one in Irmo, one on Bridgeberry Lane in northeast Columbia, one on South Lake Drive in Lexington, and a recently opened unit on Platt Springs Road near Red Bank.
