Human remains found behind an SC home have been identified, coroner says
Months after human remains were discovered behind a South Carolina home the Aiken County Coroner’s Office said an identification has been made.
The body parts were positively identified as the homeowner, 73-year-old Daniel Reibsome, the coroner’s office said Tuesday in a news release.
Neither the cause of death nor the manner of death have been determined and both remain under investigation, according to the release. But no foul play is suspected in Reibsome’s death, the coroner’s office said.
The remains were found on March 24, according to the release.
At about 8 p.m., Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of Woodfield Road after being called about the discovery, the coroner’s office said.
A neighbor was performing a well-being check when the body parts were found, according to the release.
Members of the coroner’s office got to the home at about 8:40 p.m. and confirmed the remains were human before they were collected, according to the release.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office Forensic Anthropology team assisted the Aiken County coroner in identifying Reibsome.
