Columbia’s last Hooters restaurant has closed its doors for good. What we know
A well-known national restaurant chain has shuttered its last Midlands location.
The Hooters restaurant at 5195 Fernandina Road, near Interstate 26, is listed as “permanently closed” on Google. A recorded phone message at the restaurant Monday morning also noted the business as permanently closed, and directed callers to check the Hooters website or their Hoot Club app for the nearest location.
Hooters has long been known for — among other things — its chicken wings and burgers. With the Fernandina closure, the company no longer has any locations in the Midlands. The chain’s location at 7711 Two Notch Road closed down a year ago.
The Fernandina Road Hooters closure comes as the company recently shuttered dozens of locations. As noted in a report from CNN, Hooters filed for bankruptcy in March, but noted at the time that it wasn’t going anywhere.
Hooters told CNN it made the decision to close some stores ”after careful consideration of what is needed to best position our company for the future.”
According to a store locator tool on the Hooters website, remaining locations in South Carolina include spots in Anderson, Greenville, Myrtle Beach and North Charleston.
