This national restaurant chain has closed a Columbia location. Here’s where
A popular chain known for sandwiches and more now has one less location in the Midlands.
The Panera Bread location at 106 Percival Road, near Forest Drive and the U.S. Army’s Fort Jackson training installation, recently closed, according to a notice posted on the restaurant’s door. That notice directs diners to the Panera location on Garners Ferry Road. The Percival Road Panera also is listed as “permanently closed” on Google.
The restaurant was located at the Jackson Square shopping complex that also includes a Petco, a Club Champion golf shop and a Wingstop chicken place, among other businesses. Another restaurant, Chubby’s Burgers, recently closed a location in the shopping center.
Panera Bread has long been known for its bread, baked goods, sandwiches, soups and more. The company has 2,216 locations across the U.S., according to its website, including 32 in South Carolina. The company still has four spots in Columbia, including one in northeast Columbia, another on Garners Ferry Road, a location on Gervais Street downtown and one on Harbison Boulevard.
The location at 277 Harbison Blvd. is a newly constructed store after the business moved from nearby Bower Parkway in 2024.
