A popular Columbia Mexican food truck is set to have a brick-and-mortar presence with a new concept as part of a coming food hall in a growing district.

Los Chicanos, which has been a well known food truck in the Midlands in recent years, will launch Los Chicanos Jr. at Gather COLA, the in-development food hall that is under construction at Columbia’s BullStreet District. Gather COLA and Los Chicanos announced the partnership Saturday on their their respective social media pages.

“Los Chicanos is officially joining the Gather lineup,” Gather COLA noted on Facebook. “From food truck favorite to a new spot in BullStreet, their savory street-style Mexican eats are loved no matter where you order!”

Los Chicanos said on social media that it had been looking for the right spot for a brick-and-mortar setup for some time.

“Think of it as a mini version of Los Chicanos — same owners, same flavor, just a smaller setup featuring the all-time favorites you already know and love,” Los Chicanos said on social media. “After nearly two years of searching for the right fit, Gather felt like home.”

The Los Chicanos food truck, which has been around since 2018, will continue operating and appear at various festivals, weddings and other spots, Los Chicanos noted on Facebook.

This marks the third food vendor to be announced for Gather COLA, the food hall that currently is under construction at Sabal and Freed streets in the BullStreet District. Sandwich shop Bull & Bread and sweet spot Cocobowlz previously had been announced as coming tenants.

According to a February release, Gather COLA, which is an effort from Cason Development, Greenville’s Four Oaks Property Group and BullStreet master developer Hughes Devlopment, will have nine restaurant and food vendor spaces “showcasing local and international flavors.” It is also set to feature two bar areas, pop-up areas for micro-retailers, 8,500 square feet of office space across multiple floors and an outdoor gathering area with seating and space for live entertainment.

Four Oaks Property Group previously developed the Gather GVL food hall located on Augusta Street in downtown Greenville. The Greenville food hall, located a short distance from Fluor Field baseball stadium, is home to a host of food vendors, including Cocobowlz, Greenville Beer Exchange, HenDough fried chicken and doughnuts, Mercado Cantina and others.
