A new restaurant with a host of Southern flavors has made its debut in a popular Columbia retail area.

B Mac’s, a Southern buffet restaurant from Columbia native Bart McKinney, has opened its doors at 1230 Bower Parkway in the Columbiana Station shopping center in the Harbison retail district northwest of downtown Columbia. B Mac’s Columbia announced the recent opening in posts on Facebook.

The new buffet restaurant is in a space that formerly was occupied by a Copper River Grill restaurant, which closed in 2020. B Mac’s is in a shopping strip that includes a host of other businesses, including the Regal Columbiana Grande movie theater, the British Bulldog Pub and the recently opened Yummy Bowl Mongolian restaurant, among others.

Social media postings indicate a number of Southern entrees and sides are typically available at B Mac’s, including fried chicken, mac and cheese, fatback, chicken livers, mash potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, fried squash and much more. Pizzas, desserts and ice cream also are available.

On Tuesday afternoon, B Mac’s posted about its “Pork Chop Tuesday” offerings.

“Our pork chops are fried or grilled to make your taste buds do the happy dance,” the Facebook post said. “Tuesdays are made for pork chop love, not boring chores. Bring your appetite and your friends.”

McKinney also owns a B Mac’s location in Waycross, Georgia.

The general Harbison area northwest of downtown Columbia continues to be a busy retail district, with a host of restaurants, big box stores, theaters, clothiers, bars and more. About 31,000 cars per day travel down Harbison Boulevard, per state Department of Transportation data, while about 11,000 cars per day traverse down nearby Bower Parkway.
