A long-running pizza chain is prepping a new location in downtown Columbia.

Domino’s Pizza, one of the nation’s largest pizza companies, will open a location at the new Gateway 737 student living development on Gadsden Street, right across the street from the University of South Carolina’s Colonial Life Arena.

There is a building permit for the coming Domino’s hanging in the ground floor space on the southeast corner of the massive complex, near the corner of Gadsden and Devine streets. The Domino’s also was mentioned as a business for the project in a recent press release about the opening of the development.

Gateway 737 is the latest student housing tower in Columbia, featuring more than 900 beds across 311 apartments in the 650,000-square-foot facility. It features a two-story fitness center, a rooftop lounge and a resort-style pool.

And it has space on the ground floor for businesses accessible to students and the general public. A new Chick-fil-A just opened there, and a Knowledge Perk coffee shop is set for a ribbon-cutting later this month. A Roxanne’s Market location is also planned for the site.

Domino’s has long been one of the more well-known pizza chains, with more than 7,000 locations across the U.S., according to data website ScrapeHero.
