A new spot for cool treats is being prepped in a growing area of Lexington County.

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, which has locations across the U.S., is readying a new location in the 1700 block of S. Lake Drive in the Red Bank area of Lexington. The dessert spot will be close to a host of popular nearby businesses, including a Walmart, a Rush’s, a Walmart and a Lizard’s Thicket, among a number of others. It will be next door to a Jiffy Lube location.

Construction for the Jeremiah’s was ongoing when a reporter went by the site on Tuesday. An opening date for restaurant hasn’t been publicly announced, but there is a sign at the location that says it will be “scooping soon.”

Jeremiah’s has locations in numerous states, especially across the South in places such as Florida, Texas, Alabama, Louisiana and North Carolina. Other locations in South Carolina include Greenville, Duncan, Boiling Springs, Mauldin and Charleston, according to a store locator tool on the company’s website. The only current Midlands location is on Hardscrabble Road in Columbia.

Jeremiah’s restaurants are known, as the name suggests, for their Italian ice, with more than 40 rotating flavors offered, as well as soft serve ice cream. It also offers treats that layer the Italian ice and ice cream together.

The Red Bank community in south central Lexington County continues to be a rapidly growing area that is adding more residences and businesses. Nearly 31,000 cars per day travel down S. Lake Drive in Red Bank, per state Department of Transportation statistics.
