A new spot for sandwiches has debuted in West Columbia.

Pressed Panini, which offers paninis, flatbreads, salads and more, recently opened its doors at 2712 Emanuel Church Road in West Columbia. That’s near the intersection of Emanuel Church and Platt Springs roads.

The panini shop is located in a space that formerly was home to an I Heart Mac & Cheese restaurant. The mac & cheese operation closed in July. Pressed Panini is in a shopping center that is home to a host of other businesses, including Ice Cream Taco, Bogarts Restaurant, and Stroud Supply, among others.

There are numerous hot panini sandwiches on the Pressed Panini menu, including the turkey club that comes with turkey, bacon, provolone, tomato and honey mustard. The spot on Emanuel Church Road also has a number of signature sandwiches. Those include the Chef Special, which has roast beef, turkey, ham, provolone, pepperoncini, mayo, spicy mustard, lettuce, tomato and onion on a hoagie roll.

There are also soups, salads, and smoothies on the Pressed Panini menu, as well as a roster of flatbreads. That includes the Mike’s Hot Honey Pepperoni Flatbread that comes with marinara, mozzarella, oregano, pepperoni, Mike’s Hot Honey and crushed red pepper.

The Three Fountains area of West Columbia, west of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport and east of Red Bank, is a busy place. About 19,000 cars per day travel down Platt Springs Road near Pressed Panini, per S.C. Department of Transportation data, while about 13,600 cars per day travel down Emanuel Church Road.
