A Chick-fil-A in Columbia’s most popular indoor mall is closed for the moment.

The chicken sandwich chain’s location in the Columbiana Centre mall’s food court was listed as “temporarily closed” on the company’s website as of Tuesday afternoon. The location was covered by a construction barrier when a reporter stopped by on Monday afternoon, and there was a message on the barrier with the Chick-fil-A logo that said it was “under remodel.” The sounds of construction could be heard from beyond the wooden barrier on Monday afternoon.

A reopening date for the mall Chick-fil-A hasn’t been publicly announced. The nearest Chick-fil-A outside the mall is the freestanding location at 294 Harbison Blvd., across the road from the mall.

That a remodel is going on at the Columbiana Centre Chick-fil-A is not likely surprising, as the chicken sandwich company has done a host of renovations, expansions, remodelings and moves at various locations in the Midlands in recent years. In the most recent example, the Lexington location at Saluda Pointe recently reopened after being closed while it expanded its drive-thru capacity.

The Columbiana Centre mall has remained a key shopping hub in the Columbia area, with many national stores and boutiques and very few vacancies. The larger Harbison shopping district near the mall and northwest of downtown Columbia is lined with stores, restaurants, big box retailers, movie theaters, hotels and more.

Chick-fil-A’s website as of Oct. 21, 2025 noted the location is temporarily closed. There is signage at the mall that says it is closed for remodeling.
