Midlands golf enthusiasts will soon have their first chance to visit a revitalized facility with a driving range and more near Lake Murray.

BOHO Links, formerly known as the Lake Murray Golf Center, will host a soft opening event from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22.

The golf venue is located at 2032 Old Hilton Road in Chapin. The event will feature live music from Cody Webb, food and beverages available for purchase and the driving range will be open for play. Entry for the event will be $10 at the door, and Webb will take the stage at 7, per a Facebook listing for the soft opening.

BOHO Links owner Ben Hooker noted the Nov. 22 gathering is a one-night only event, offering a preview of the facility before a grand opening likely before the end of the year.

The Lake Murray Golf Center, which was long a go-to destination for golfers looking to hone their skills, has been closed since 2021. In July, CB Bros. Holdings and Hooker purchased the 33-acre property and announced plans to revitalize it and reopen it. Hooker, a Chapin native, also is the owner of BOHO Pizza and Brew, a popular restaurant in Lexington near Lexington High School.

The golf facility, now christened BOHO Links, is being brought back in phases. This first phase will see the reopening of the driving range, while later stages will bring back the 9-hole par 3 course and a mini-golf course. A full-service restaurant also is in the plan for later stages, organizers have said.

After opening BOHO Pizza in Lexington a couple of years ago, Hooker said he wanted to bring another amenity to the Midlands that can be enjoyed by families.

“We are very community focused,” Hooker told The State. “I’m from Chapin and I live in Lexington now. Chapin fits that demographic where we wanted to bring a community-driven type of atmosphere. We are very family-friendly. [BOHO Links] is not just for [experienced] golfers, but also for casual golfers.

“This place will be more than a golf element. It will be a destination and experience.”

The BOHO Links location at 2032 Old Hilton Road is about four miles southeast of downtown Chapin, not far from Chapin Road.
