What’s being built off Lexington’s retail main drag? A new business is coming
A new spot to shine your ride is on the way in Lexington.
Tommy’s Express Car Wash will open a new location at 2406 Mineral Springs Road, which is just off Sunset Boulevard, behind the Guthrie’s Chicken restaurant that opened last year. The Tommy’s Express project is listed as “under construction” in the town of Lexington’s most recent planning and zoning action report. The Lexington location also is tabbed as “coming soon” on the Tommy’s Express website.
An opening date for the Mineral Springs Road Tommy’s Express has not been publicly announced. However, construction is well underway, and the large, red frame of the facility can be seen from busy Sunset Boulevard.
Tommy’s Express has car wash locations in states across the U.S., including in Texas, Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and elsewhere, per a locations tool on the company’s website. A Tommy’s Express location opened at 4700 Devine St. in Columbia back in 2022.
The area where the new car wash is being constructed is near a high-traffic, bustling commercial thoroughfare in Lexington. Numerous major, national businesses are located along nearby Sunset Boulevard, including Hobby Lobby, Burlington, Lowes Foods, Target and a host of others. More than 43,000 cars per day travel down Sunset Boulevard, per state Department of Transportation data, making it one of the busiest non-interstate roads in the Midlands.
