This Lexington shopping center to get a new national store. Here’s the timeframe
A well-known store that specializes in tools and other hardware has announced it will open a new location in a busy area of Lexington.
Harbor Freight, which has locations across the U.S., announced in a Tuesday news release that it will bring a store to 732 W. Main St. in Lexington. That’s in the Town Square shopping center that includes a Food Lion, a Na’cho Margarita restaurant, a Wingstop and other businesses.
The coming West Main Street Harbor Freight has been listed in recent planning and zoning action reports from the town of Lexington. It will be in a space at Town Square that formerly was home to a Badcock Furniture store.
The new Harbor Freight will likely open sometime this summer, a release noted, though an exact date has not yet been targeted.
Harbor Freight has more than 1,600 stores across the U.S., per data website Scrapehero. That includes dozens of locations in South Carolina. The company opened a new location on Augusta Highway in West Columbia in summer 2024.
The new store “is part of the company’s continued effort to make professional-quality tools and unbeatable value more convenient and accessible to customers where they live and work,” Harbor Freight said in the news release.
The tool store is coming to a very high-traffic area of Lexington. About 40,000 cars per day travel down that section of West Main Street, according to state Department of Transportation data.
