Richland County coroner identifies motorcyclist who was shot, killed
The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the individual who suffered from gunshot wounds before crashing a motorcycle Sunday morning.
Coroner Gary Watts said 46-year-old Adrian L. Silva, of Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. An autopsy conducted Monday morning revealed that Silva died from complications of gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators said they received a call from a motorist who was passing the Longreen Parkway at Churchland Drive at 3 a.m. Sunday morning and reported seeing a motorcycle in the treeline.
First responders with the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Richland County Coroner’s office arrived and discovered the victim had suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.
Watts said the sheriff’s department will continue to investigate.
