Driver who died in West Columbia wreck identified

Officials released the name of a driver who was killed in a Lexington County car wreck Sunday afternoon.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Natasha Lindell Smith, 37, of Columbia was involved in a two-vehicle wreck about 3:15 p.m. on the 200 block of Gardners Terrace Road in West Columbia, according to a news release from the coroner’s office.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries she sustained during the wreck, the release stated. An autopsy will be performed today.

Previous reports indicated Smith, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet, was not wearing a seat belt during the wreck.

Smith’s daughter, a passenger in the Chevrolet, and both occupants of the other vehicle were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

High Patrol and the coroner’s office continues to investigate this wreck.
