One dead, more injured in Lexington County shooting, as person of interest located, cops say
One person is dead and two others are hospitalized as law enforcement has located a person of interest in a shooting, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher on Tuesday identified the victim as 38-year-old Aaron Matthew Peterson. He was shot multiple times in the upper body and died at the scene, Fisher said.
The shooting occurred in the the 300 block of Sand Spur Road near Pelion, the sheriff’s department reported.
One of the shooting victims has “significant injuries,” the sheriff’s department said, reporting the other person has been hospitalized with “a minor injury.”
The sheriff’s department said it is not actively searching for a suspect after locating the person of interest connected to the fatal shooting.
Crime scene investigators collected evidence and processed the scene of the shooting, according to the sheriff’s department.
The Lexington County Coroner’s office will publicly identify the person killed in the shooting after notifying the family.
