Pelion man identified as victim in fatal Lexington County triple shooting

A 38-year-old man has been identified as the person killed in a triple shooting near Pelion on Monday.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher on Tuesday said Aaron Matthew Peterson was shot multiple times in the upper body on the 300 block of Sandspur Road in Pelion. Peterson died at the scene.

Two other people were taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds after the shooting, which happened around 5:40 p.m., officials have said. One of the victims is in serious condition while the other had injuries that were not life-threatening.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said a person of interest is in custody and that they are not actively searching for a suspect.
