Suspects wanted for murder after woman is fatally shot in Columbia house full of kids, cops say
A 33-year-old woman is dead after she was shot inside a Columbia home during the early-morning hours Sunday, according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.
Nakya D. Scott was shot at a residence in the 2000 block of Faraway Drive in Columbia, according to Watts.
Scott was shot around 2:30 a.m. and taken to an area hospital, where she died at 3:28 a.m., Watts reported.
Her cause of death was “a gunshot wound to the upper body,” Watts said after an autopsy was performed.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying the suspect, or suspects, who are wanted for murder according to the department.
In addition to Scott, the sheriff’s department reported that there were “multiple juvenile residents” who lived at the residence and were at home when the deadly shooting occurred.
