After finding that a man had been shot before dying in a car crash, Richland County deputies and the U.S. Marshals have arrested a man and charged him with murder, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department.

Correy Termaine Brown, 43, was arrested Monday and charged with murder after the Dec. 29 killing of 37-year-old Donald Antonio Young, according to the statement.

Dec. 29, troopers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol were called to a single car crash on Meeting House and Clarkson roads, according to the statement. Young was found dead at the scene.

After later examination, a gunshot wound was found in Young’s upper body, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department took over the murder investigation.

The shooting was sparked by an altercation between Brown and Young, according to a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

Deputies and marshals arrested Brown on the 400 block of Percival Road at about 5 p.m. Monday, according to the statement. The arrest went over without incident.

Brown is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
