Authorities have arrested a man in connection with the November shooting death of a 19-year-old Columbia man.

Richland County deputies and U.S. Marshals on Thursday arrested Tyshawn Carrigan, 20, the sheriff’s department announced. Carrigan is charged with murder in the Nov. 26 slaying of Jayquan Hughes.

Hughes was found on the 1800 block of Crestview Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 26, deputies have said. He had a gunshot wound to the lower body and was taken to a Columbia hospital, where he later died.

Carrigan was arrested without incident and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, a sheriff’s department spokeswoman said.
