Police standoff comes to a quick end, no charges filed in Lexington County
The West Columbia Police Department resolved what they initially reported as a barricaded person Tuesday in the 500 block of Boozer Street.
No charges have been filed in what was initially reported to law enforcement as a domestic violence situation, according to a statement from the West Columbia Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene in Lexington County, in the area between Platt Springs Road and U.S. 321/Charleston Highway, at about 2 p.m. Tuesday.
They responded after dispatch “received a call from an out-of-state female that her friend, who lives on Boozer St., had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend,” according to a statement from the West Columbia Police Department.
The woman had allegedly barricaded herself inside of an upstairs bathroom with her young child.
When officers arrived at the scene they said that they observed a man matching the description they were given peering through a window. But no one inside of the house would respond to law enforcement.
Police asked people to stay away while it works to resolve the situation.
After more than an hour, law enforcement said that they were able to get the woman inside the house on the phone.
“At approximately 2:00 pm the alleged victim exited the house along with all the other occupants and denied that any assault took place,” the West Columbia Police Department said in a statement.
Law enforcement said they released the scene after assuring that all parties at the home were not injured.
