A man was killed and his cousin was arrested, Columbia police say. Here’s what happened
A woman was arrested after her cousin was shot an killed over the weekend, according to the Columbia Police Department.
Tamara L. Anderson, 39, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, police said Tuesday night in a news release.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office said 32-year-old Columbia resident Eugene Bell Jr., was the victim of the Aug. 17 shooting.
At around midnight on Aug. 17, officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 1200 block of King Street, police said in the release.
That’s where Anderson was involved in a verbal altercation with an acquaintance, according to the release. Information about what led to the altercation was not available.
During the altercation, Anderson pulled out a gun, police said.
Bell was attempting to intervene when he was was accidentally shot, according to police. Bell died at the scene, police said.
No other injuries were reported.
Anderson was arrested after police consulted with the 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, according to the release.
Anderson was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and has since been released after posting a $100,000 personal recognizance bond, police said.
