Manhunt for two teenagers facing murder charges after men were killed, SC sheriff says
Two men were killed Monday night in a shooting at an apartment complex in South Carolina and there’s a search for who pulled the trigger, according to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Jamiyan L Blair, 18, and Bobby Bernard Elijah Stuckey III, 19, are facing murder charges for their roles in the double homicide, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday. Both teens remain at large, according to the sheriff’s office.
At about 5:30 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to a call about multiple people getting shot at the Lexington Grand Apartments, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. That’s on Roy Truesdale Road in the Lugoff area, according to the release.
Two victims were shot and died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
The Kershaw County Coroner’s Office said 40-year-old Camden resident Kevin Sutton and 22-year-old Cassatt resident Tasheed Sutton were the victims, according to the sheriff’s office.
No other injuries were reported.
At about 10:45 p.m., the sheriff’s office said “all parties involved knew each other and this was not a random act.”
Information about a motive for the shooting was not available.
Along with deputies, members of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the apartment complex and participated in a search that included a police dog team and drone from the sheriff’s office, according to the release.
No arrests have been reported, and the sheriff’s office said “We believe the shooter(s) have left the area.”
The sheriff’s office temporarily blocked the area as deputies, and members of SLED processed the scene, according to the release.
Anyone who has seen Blair or Stuckey, or has information about them or on the shooting is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 803-425-1512 or 803-424-4000, or online at Investigations@kershaw.sc.gov. Tips can also be submitted to CrimeStoppers at 864-232-7463, or made online.
“Several tips have already been received by ... investigators,” the sheriff’s office said. “Please keep the tips coming in.”
