$450k bond set for South Carolina man charged with shoplifting at Dollar General, cops say
A Lexington man was recently arrested in another South Carolina county on multiple charges connected to an incident at a Dollar General store, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Faron Lee Brown, 60, was charged with shoplifting enhancement, identity fraud and meth trafficking, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The charges stem from a March 10 incident at the Dollar General store at 6025 Columbia Road, the sheriff’s office said. That’s in the St. Matthews area of Calhoun County, near Exit 139 on Interstate I-26.
The sheriff’s office originally asked for help identifying a man shown on surveillance footage who it said was involved in a shoplifting at the Dollar General. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department helped identify the man as Brown, according to the release.
During his arrest, 16 grams of meth was discovered in the engine compartment of Brown’s vehicle, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said.
At a March 13 court appearance, Brown’s bond was set at $450,000, according to the release. There was no word if bond was posted.
When he was taken into custody last week, Brown was out on bond from previous arrests where charges are pending, Lexington County court records show.
In September 2023, Brown was charged with resisting arrest and bond was set at $25,000, according to court records.
Brown was arrested again a year later when he was charged with third-degree domestic violence as well as failure to appear on a count of identity fraud in September 2024, court records show. Bond was set at $5,000 on those combined charges, according to court records.
