SC man was trying to sell something on Facebook and now he’s in jail, cops say. Here’s why

A South Carolina man who tried to sell a trailer on Facebook Marketplace is in jail, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

That’s because Jerome Raeshard Lowery is accused of stealing the utility trailer Monday before attempting to sell it on the social media platform, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The 32-year-old Dalzell resident was charged with grand larceny (greater than $2,000 but less than $10,000) and receiving stolen goods, according to the release.

This isn’t the only time that Lowery has tried selling a stolen item, according to the release. The sheriff’s office said it has linked Lowery to the sale of other stolen trailers that were being sold through Facebook Marketplace.

Lowery was booked at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, according to the release. Bond was posted, jail records show. Further information about the bond was not available.

Despite Lowery’s arrest, the sheriff’s office said an investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding Lowery is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 803-484-5353, CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
