Woman who lives on Air Force base arrested for sex crime with child, SC cops say
A South Carolina woman who lives on an Air Force base in the Midlands was recently charged with a sex crime that involved a minor, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Nicole M. Crumb, a 41-year-old Sumter resident, was charged with first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the sheriff’s office said Monday in a news release.
The woman whose address is listed as Shaw Air Force Base was arrested May 28, according to the release. There was no word about Crumb’s connection, if any, to the U.S. Air Force.
On April 17, deputies received a report from a concerned parent saying that their child, who is a minor, received inappropriate communications from Crumb, the sheriff’s office said. After conducting interviews and reviewing evidence, investigators obtained a warrant for Crumb’s arrest on May 27, according to the release.
Specific information about the nature of the messages, and if they included visuals, was not available.
Crumb was taken into custody and was booked into the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, according to the release. She was released after her $22,500 bond on the combined charges was posted May 29, Sumter County court records show.
Despite the arrest, the sheriff’s office said it’s continuing to investigate the case.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 803-436-2000, CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit a tip online.
