Search for killers after 37-year-old’s body found by SC deputies, officials say
A body was found in South Carolina Tuesday and a search is underway for the person’s killers, according to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.
LaPorsha Farr, a 37-year-old from Spartanburg, is the person who was fatally shot, Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill said Wednesday.
The homicide happened Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. It occurred on Durham Place Road near the Lake Wateree area, according to the release.
No other injuries were reported by the sheriff’s office.
Information about why the Spartanburg resident was in Fairfield County was not available.
The sheriff’s office said that it thinks that the killers left the area, “and at this time, we believe there is no immediate danger to our citizens.”
Information about the killers, and how many people were involved, was not available, and there was no word on a motive for the homicide.
No arrests have been reported, but the sheriff’s office said “a very active investigation” is ongoing, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is providing assistance. Law enforcement officers are collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, according to the release.
An autopsy has been scheduled with Newberry Pathology, according to the coroner’s office.
Anyone with information about the death is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 803-635-4141, Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, or submit an online tip.
“We are fully committed to uncovering the truth and bringing justice to the victim and their loved ones,” the sheriff’s office said in the release.
