‘If I get out ... she may not live,’ SC man said after attack, prosecutor says

A Lexington man is going to prison after being convicted of brutally attacking his ex-girlfriend, according to the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

On Oct. 15, William David Boone was convicted on counts of first-degree burglary and first-degree domestic violence, which are considered violent and serious offenses, the solicitor’s office said in a news release. The 57-year-old Boone was also convicted on an obstruction of justice charge, according to the release.

Judge Jessica Salvini sentenced Boone to 15 years in a South Carolina Department of Corrections prison, the solicitor’s office said. The burglary charge is also a “no parole” offense, according to the release.

The attack

The charges followed a Sept. 26, 2024, attack, where Boone forced his way inside the home he used to share with his ex-girlfriend, the solicitor’s office said. Boone beat the victim with a metal pipe and attempted to hit her with multiple other objects around the house, according to the release.

Most of the assault was recorded in the victim’s 911 call, where she could be heard pleading for Boone to stop and screaming to the 911 operator that he was going to kill her if law enforcement did not get there quickly, the solicitor’s office said.

During the attack, an eyewitness in the home was forced to hit Boone and intervene for the victim and save her, according to the release.

‘She may not live’

After he was arrested on Oct. 1, Boone went to extreme lengths through jail calls and messages from the Lexington County Detention Center to ensure the victim would not cooperate or show up for trial, the solicitor’s office said.

The victim did not cooperate with the prosecution and did not show up for trial, according to the release. But the solicitor’s office said that this case an example that violent offenders can be prosecuted with or without the victim’s cooperation.

In the jailhouse recordings, Boone was heard bragging about assaulting the victim and the witness, according to the release. In one call, Boone said “If I get out of here, she may not live,” the solicitor’s office said.

Boone has already been taken to prison to begin his sentence, according to the release.

Criminal record

This is not the first time Boone has been charged with committing a violent crime.

Boone’s criminal history spans more than three decades, which includes six prior convictions for domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and/or assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, the solicitor’s office said.

Boone also has other convictions for domestic violence and assault, according to the release. His prior convictions for domestic violence involve at least five different women, the solicitor’s office said.

The case was investigated by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Boone was prosecuted by assistant solicitors Whitney Taylor and Christy Oler, according to the solicitor’s office. Lexington attorney Ola Johnson was listed as Boone’s attorney, Lexington County court records show.
