Richland SC deputies searching for three people in Alcott Drive shooting

Three people are wanted in connection with a shooting on Alcott Drive that left a 24-year-old injured, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

On Jan. 3 around 5:45 p.m., deputies responded to the 500 block of Alcott Drive in reference to shots fired. Upon arriving, they found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the lower body following a barrage of 29 bullets fired in just minutes, according to the department.

Tuesday, the department released a video of the shooting, urging the public to come forward with any information about the shooters.

In the video, muzzle flashes can be seen while an elementary-age child and a young man run away from the gunfire.

“It is by the grace of God this was child not shot and killed” Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release. “This is the danger that is out here in our community: People with guns who just do not care. This kind of violence is reckless, inexcusable, and we will hold those involved accountable.”

Any with information about the shooters are encouraged to call the department at (803) 576-3000, or to anonymously submit a tip to CrimeStoppers at 1 (888)-Crime-SC.
