19-year-old arrested after a couple was found dead in their Upstate home

A 19-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the death of elderly couple in the Upstate, according to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

Levi Kevin James with charged with two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime after 76-year-old Larry Moore, and his wife, 75-year-old Sandra Moore, were found dead in their Oconee County Home on Jan. 15, according to a news release.

Around 9:05 p.m., Jan. 15, a 911 call was made that the husband and wife had been discovered dead in their Cromer Moore Drive home in the Westminster area.

The call was made by family member who made a welfare check on the couple in their home after attempts to reach them had been unsuccessful, according to the Oconee County Coroner’s office.

Autopsies revealed that both Larry and Sandra Moore died from traumatic injuries, according to the coroner’s office.

Police say James stabbed Larry Moore multiple times in the torso and neck and strangled Sandra Moore, cutting off her airway and blood flow, according to arrest warrants.

The motive for the crime remains unclear.

James was arrested Friday and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center, where he awaits a bond hearing, according to the release.
