Couple found dead in South Carolina home are homicide victims, coroner says

A family member checking on a South Carolina couple recently made a gruesome discovery, finding their dead bodies inside their Upstate home, according to the Oconee County Coroner’s Office.

The deaths of 76-year-old Larry Moore, and his wife, 75-year-old Sandra Moore, are homicides, Coroner Karl Addis said Friday in a news release.

At about 9:05 p.m. Thursday, a 911 call was made that the husband and wife had been discovered dead in their Cromer Moore Drive home in the Westminster area, according to the release.

The 911 call was made by family member who made a welfare check on the couple in their home after attempts to reach them had been unsuccessful, the coroner’s office said.

Autopsies showed that both Larry and Sandra Moore died from traumatic injuries, according to the coroner’s office. Further information about the homicides was being withheld as the deaths are being investigated by both the coroner’s office and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

No other injuries were reported, and the sheriff’s office said that the deaths are believed to be an isolated incident, “and there is no danger to the public.”

There was no word on suspect, or suspects, involved with the deaths, or a motive to kill the Moores.

No arrests have been reported.

Investigators asked anyone in the area with home security cameras that might have observed something suspicious between Jan. 13 and Jan. 15 to call the sheriff’s office at 864-638-4111.

Anyone with information about the homicides also is asked to contact the sheriff’s office, Crimestoppers at 844-71-CRIME, or submit a tip online.

In the case of an emergency, always call 911.
