Two people shot overnight near Rosewood area, Columbia police say

Two people were shot at an apartment complex in South Carolina late Tuesday night, according to the Columbia Police Department.

The shooting happened at about 10:30 p.m. at 320 South Beltline Boulevard, Deputy Chief Melron Kelly told The State on Wednesday morning. That’s the Woodland Terrace Apartments, near the Rosewood area of Columbia.

Officers who responded to the shooting found a male and female victim, police said in a news release.

Both of the shooting victims were taken to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, Kelly said. Further information on the victims’ conditions was not available.

No other injuries were reported.

Information about the shooter, or shooters, and how many people were involved, was not available. There was no word on a motive for the gunfire.

No arrests have been reported in the shooting that continues to be investigated by police. Officers are looking for surveillance footage from the area at the time of the shooting, and have collected evidence from the scene, police said.
