Shooting in restaurant leaves South Carolina man dead, coroner says

A South Carolina man was shot and killed early Sunday morning at a restaurant, according to the Greenwood County Coroner’s Office.

Knowledge Kwame Shakur, a 41-year-old Greenwood resident, is the shooting victim who died, the coroner’s office said in a news release.

There was an altercation involving two people at the Uptown Grill restaurant in Greenwood, according to the release. That’s in the area between U.S. 178 and the Lander University campus.

Information about why the people were fighting, and if they knew each other prior to the shooting, was not available.

Shakur was shot in the chest and abdomen, the coroner’s office said. He was moved into an ambulance but died at the scene at 2:11 a.m., according to the release.

No other injuries were reported.

Information about the shooter, or shooters, and if any more people were involved, was not available.

No arrests have been reported in the homicide that continues to be investigated by the Greenwood Police Department and the coroner’s office.
