Shooting victim dies in South Carolina hospital, coroner says

A South Carolina man was killed in a Wednesday night shooting, according to the Greenwood County Coroner’s Office.

Michael C. Boston, a 41-year-old Greenwood resident, was identified as the homicide victim, the coroner’s office said Thursday in a news release.

Late Wednesday night, the coroner’s office was called to the emergency room at Self Regional Medical Center where a shooting victim, later identified as Boston, was treated, according to the release. Boston was pronounced dead at 11:37 p.m., the coroner’s office said.

No other injuries were reported.

Information about the shooter, or shooters, and if any more people were involved, was not available. There was no word about a motive for the gunfire.

No arrests have been reported in the shooting that continues to be investigated by the Greenwood Police Department and coroner’s office.
