Manhunt underway in South Carolina for burglary suspect, sheriff says
There’s a search in South Carolina for a wanted man on Monday afternoon, according to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies are looking for Jeffrey Lamont Griffin, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Griffin ran when deputies attempted to serve him with an arrest warrant on a second-degree burglary charge, according to the release.
There’s a heavy law enforcement officer presence in the Newberry area, as deputies, Newberry Police Department officers and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents search for Griffin, the sheriff’s office said. The search is focused in the area between Shelly Street and Pope Street, according to the release.
The sheriff’s office said Griffin was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
Griffin is not believed to be armed, according to the release.
Anyone who has seen Griffin, or has information about him, is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 803-321-2211, CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
