Guns, drugs and cash seized during search of South Carolina house, police say

A South Carolina man was arrested Wednesday after a variety of guns and drugs, along with thousands in cash, were seized during a search of a Richland County home, according to the Irmo Police Department.

Joseph Seth Braxton was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance, police said in a news release. The 24-year-old was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, and remains locked up, jail records show.

Bond was set at $30,000 on the combined charges, according to Richland County court records.

Braxton was charged following a Wednesday morning search of a home in the New Friarsgate subdivision, according to the release.

Officers seized drugs that included 106 ounces of plant marijuana, more than 9 ounces of THC vape products, 46 ounces of THC wax, 3 grams of LSD, in addition to Alprazolam and Psilocybin, police said.

Police said that seven guns also were seized during the search, including:

  • Three semi-auto handguns
  • One revolver
  • Two assault rifles
  • One shotgun
  • Assorted Ammunition

Additionally, police said they found about $11,400 in cash.
