Columbia police are searching for a man who they say stabbed three people at a home off of West Beltline Boulevard and then set the house on fire early Sunday morning.

Herbert Davon Oree, 20, is wanted for three counts of attempted murder, 3rd degree arson, 1st degree burglary and possession of a knife during commission of a violent crime, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Oree broke into a home on the 1700 block of Bailey Street shortly after 3 a.m., stabbed three people – two males and a female – and set fire to part of the home’s interior, officials said. The victims were able to quickly extinguish the flames so they didn’t spread to the remainder of the house.

The victims suffered stab wounds to the upper and lower bodies and were taken to a local hospital. As of Sunday afternoon, one victim was still in the hospital, according to police.

Investigators are working to determine a motive, but said Oree is acquainted with the victims.

Police said that Oree should be considered armed and dangerous, and that anyone with information pertaining to the incident should contact Crimestoppers by calling 1-888-CRIME-SC, sending a text to CRIMES and starting the message with “TIPSC” or by going to www.midlandscrimestoppers.com.
