Lexington County deputies have arrested a man they say fatally stabbed two people and set fire to their home early Thursday morning.

Robert Dumon Johnson, 34, of Gaston, has been charged with arson and two counts of murder, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the victims as Brenda Posey and Harry Smith.

Firefighters found the couple dead in the bedroom of their home on Cedarcrest Drive.

“Based on information we gathered during our investigation, Johnson knew both of the victims, and regularly did household jobs and yard work around their home,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The three of them apparently got into an argument that resulted in a struggle and ended with the stabbings.”

The sheriff said Johnson was arrested without incident Saturday afternoon in Florence, with help from local, state and federal law agencies.

Johnson could face additional charges related to this case as the investigation continues, Koon said.

He was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center. He is expected to have a bond hearing Monday, according to the sheriff’s department.
