The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects wanted for the murder of a 26-year-old man near Columbia Place Mall.

Sheriff Leon Lott said around 11 p.m. July 2, deputies responded to 7475 Pinedale Drive to a shots fired call.

Lott said Jamell George was sitting in his car in a driveway when two suspects approached him. The suspects then reportedly ordered George from his vehicle at gunpoint. When George attempted to flee the area, he was shot multiple times by the suspects

The victim was transported to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts reported the victim died from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

George’s family is also offering an additional $4,000 in reward money to Crimestoppers for tips that lead to an arrest.
