For second time in weeks, high school in Richland County goes remote after power loss
Thursday is now an e-Learning day for Lower Richland High School students, according to the Richland 1 school district.
For the second time in a month, students shifted to online classrooms because of a power outage at the school in Hopkins. The school is on Lower Richland Boulevard, at the intersection with Garners Ferry Road.
There was previously a power outage at the high school on Jan. 19.
Information on the cause of Thursday’s power loss was not available.
There was no word when power would be restored to the school, or if students will have another day of virtual learning on Friday.
As of 7:55 a.m., one outage was reported in Richland County, according to Dominion Energy.
Several Midlands school districts have used remote classrooms in the new year because of travel concerns caused by severe winter weather and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
