SC woman wins lottery jackpot — again. She’s ‘starting to think’ she’s lucky.

It was déjà vu.

For the second time two years, a Midlands woman bought a winning a six-figure lottery ticket. And she purchased both jackpot-winning scratch-off games at the same Columbia store, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said in a news release.

After recently winning $200,000 on a lottery ticket, the woman said she’s “starting to think” she’s lucky, according to the release.

And just like when she won $250,000 in 2020, the woman said discovering her prize made her weak in the knees, according to lottery officials.

The woman bought both winning tickets at the Spring Valley Convenience Store on Sparkleberry Lane Extension, according to the release. That’s near the intersection with Two Notch Road, less than a mile from Spring Valley High School.

If hitting it big playing the lottery at the same store wasn’t coincidence enough, the woman was with the same people both times she won, lottery officials said. This time, the woman said they believed her when she told them she had won, according to the release.

The woman’s name was not released because South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

The woman didn’t say how she spent her first windfall, but told lottery officials she has specific plans for this prize.

“I had a lot of fun with the first winnings and enjoyed every bit of it,” she said in the release. “This time I’m going to buy a house.”

Lottery officials said the odds of winning $200,000 in 20X The Money were 1-in-870,000, and one of the four top prizes in the scratch-off remains unclaimed.

The convenience store received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed winning ticket, according to the release.
