Lottery player had winning feeling and now the SC woman is a millionaire

A Lowcountry woman had a winning feeling when she bought a scratch-off lottery ticket, and her premonition was accurate, according to South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

The woman won the 200X lottery game’s $2 million grand prize, officials said Thursday in a news release.

“Something told me I was going to hit a lottery jackpot and be a millionaire,” the woman said in the release.

The woman bought the seven-figure winning scratch-off ticket for $20 at Coosaw Liquor & Wine on Dorchester Road in North Charleston, officials said.

She took the ticket home and started scratching it, and by the time she got to the third number on the card her feeling had been confirmed, the $2 million top prize win was hers, according to the release.

“Oh my gosh, its $2 million,” she screamed.

The winner will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of 11 states — along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

The woman didn’t reveal specific plans for spending her newfound windfall, saying only she plans to help her family, officials said.

The woman overcame 1,320,000-to-1 odds to win the 200X game’s grand prize, according to the release. One of the game’s six top prizes remains unclaimed, officials said.

Coosaw Liquor & Wine received a commission of $20,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
