Woman didn’t realize she won $4M — until she looked at Michigan lottery ticket again
A 75-year-old woman shopping at Kroger recently did a double take after seeing a massive number on her winning lottery ticket.
The woman said she decided to buy the $4 million CA$H instant game while she was buying groceries — and she ended up winning the jackpot.
“I didn’t see any winnings on the ticket when I scratched it, but I scanned it at the store to be sure,” the woman, who remained anonymous, told lottery officials. “When I got a message to file a claim, I looked the ticket over a second time and that’s when I realized I’d won $4 million. I couldn’t believe it!”
The woman from Warren, Michigan, chose the one-time lump sum payment of $2.5 million, according to lottery officials. She said she plans to save her winnings.
The $4,000,000 CA$H Instant Game has six jackpot tickets, and four have been claimed. The tickets cost $30 and have also produced 21 $10,000 winners.
