Family members were concerned when a woman got into the car and started to scream.

She had an “electrifying stroke of luck,” according to Maryland lottery officials. She had just scanned her lottery ticket in the store and learned she’d won a $50,000 prize.

“I kept my composure inside the store so I didn’t draw attention to myself,” “Mary” said. “But when I got in the car, I screamed and shouted so loud my family thought something was wrong with me!”

The avid lottery player from Essex, who decided to remain anonymous, purchased the $5 FAST PLAY Lightning Cash ticket from a Royal Farms convenience store in White Marsh.

Her family was equally excited about her big win.

“Once I told them, they started dancing like they had won the money themselves,” the winner told lottery officials.

The player says she’s using the prize to buy a new family car and save the rest. She’s also planning to buy more tickets in hopes of winning another huge prize.

Essex is about an 8-mile drive east from downtown Baltimore.
