A Michigan man was shocked to see how much he won on a second chance lottery game.

Edmund Bronikowski, 59, played the Michigan Lottery’s $300,000,000 Extraordinaire second chance game, according to a Nov. 14 news release from the lottery.

Bronikowski scanned his non-winning tickets to be entered into a giveaway. Then, on Oct. 29, he was chosen in a random drawing, the release said.

“My wife used to tease me about scanning my non-winning tickets, but she’s not laughing now,” Bronikowski told lottery officials.

Bronikowski said he was on a conference call when he got an email saying he won.

“When I opened the email and saw I won a $100,000 second chance prize, all I could say is: ‘No way,” he said, per the release.

Bronikowski told lottery officials that he plans to finish some projects at his home, pay bills, and save the rest.

“I still don’t believe this is real,” he said in the release. “I have dreamt of being here for so long, and I can’t believe it’s really happening.”

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
