Lottery player hits massive Fantasy 5 jackpot in Georgia. Where was lucky ticket sold?
A stop at an eastern Georgia gas station proved lucrative for one lucky lottery player.
A single Fantasy 5 ticket matching all five numbers drawn Monday, Jan. 6, won a massive $510,693 jackpot, according to the Georgia Lottery.
The lucky player bought the ticket at the Girard Mall gas station in Girard, a tiny town of 184 residents near the Georgia-South Carolina state line, officials said.
The winning numbers in the Monday drawing were 05-09-11-32-38, results show.
It’s the latest in a string of big lottery wins for the Peach State. A Marietta resident won $100,000 in the Powerball drawing on Jan. 4, just missing the estimated $206 million jackpot, McClatchy News reported.
Another lottery player recently scored a $7 million top prize on a scratch-off game sold at a gas station in Valdosta.
The Fantasy 5 winner beat odds of 1 in 850,668 to take home the jackpot, according to the Lottery’s website.
Winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes and are encouraged to sign their tickets, the Georgia Lottery said.
Girard is about a 40-mile drive southeast from Augusta.
