A dog barely out of puppyhood is in desperate need of a family who understands her after being returned to a Texas shelter a startling four times.

Meet Mikah, a King Charles spaniel lab mix, a dog who has become all too familiar with the South Plains Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Lubbock in her one year on earth.

But it’s not her fault.

“Mikah is very special and very misunderstood. She has been surrendered back to the SPSPCA 4 different times due to no fault of her own,” the shelter said in an Oct. 21 Facebook post. “Mikah needs somebody who is very head strong and who isn’t afraid to be the boss, whether that’s just one person or a couple.”

The multiple moves from different households put Mikah in a state of confusion and she faces a great deal of stress, so it’s best if there are no children or cats in a new home, the shelter said.

“Although Mikah is not aggressive towards kids nor cats she can just be very stubborn hence the requirements of a head strong household,” the post said. attribution added

The shelter warns that she might have some food aggression, but it’s being worked on and she’s showing signs of progress.

She does get along with other dogs.

“Mikah loves to play with her foster brothers and sisters who are all a mixture between big and small. She loves to play what we know as tag but, of course, (the) dog version,” the shelter says. “She will grab a toy outside, let her foster sister know she has it and the chase begins.”

Mikah’s other likes include:

  • Splashing in a kiddie pool
  • Playing outside
  • Going on walks
  • Dog parks

“Mikah is a great dog with a huge sassy personality! The right family just hasn’t come across her yet but we and she are hopeful,” the shelter says.

Lubbock is about a 315-mile drive northwest from Fort Worth.
